INSTRUCTIONS
PROJECT 1: RESEARCH PROPOSAL
Research Proposal
In this assignment, we're required to make a proposal for our research.
Basically what we needed to do is chose a specialization, think of a
research topic of interest and proceed to write out rationale, research
problem, research objectives and questions. I placed down the links that I
think are useful for me.
Fig 1.4; Proposal Draft 1;
The above is my first proposal draft, as I'm not too sure as to what I
wanted to do, however, I do know that I'm interested in game developing
field. Hence, I thought that maybe I could go ahead and research about that
department.
Fig 1.5; Proposal in slides form;
After consultation with our lecturer, I proceed to change all the
mentioned issues with my research proposal. Since the requirements for
submission is a slide form, I proceeded to download a design that I think
related to the theme from slidesgo. And I then moved my research proposal
into the slides.

FEEDBACKS
WEEK 1
General Feedbacks: Be sure to go through the materials given, and
also read the Module Information Booklet so you don't miss out
anything
Specific Feedback: -
WEEK 2
General Feedbacks: Don’t think like a “Mass Comm” student, try to
think like a content creator.
Specific Feedback: My topic is too “Mass Comm” and was advised to
turn it around, for example, instead of focusing on the negative impacts,
why not gather the info given about it and think of a way to enhance the
application.
WEEK 3
General Feedbacks: Be sure to update your progress sheet every
week. Progress sheet should contain self-reflection and feedback from the
lecturer.
Specific Feedback: There are many kinds of games, so you should
define a kind of game so that the scope would be smaller. Different
consoles will have different types of interactions, different types of
engagement, for example, someone who plays VR and someone who plays with
the wheel console is different. When talking about games, you cannot run
away from either UI or UX. The UX is the engagement, but UI influences the
UX, so the both of them are interrelated. Game players' loyalty depends on
how immersive the game is. Once you find the articles' abstract relevant,
we should then read the whole article.
WEEK 4
General Feedbacks: For the critical review part, do not use
websites or blogs but use journal articles instead. For the submission of
Project 1:Proposal, you need to hand it in a PPT PDF file, the deadline of
it is 24 of April at 12pm. Submit it in Google Classroom.
Specific Feedback: No class this week due to workshop session
REFLECTIONS
WEEK 1
I was excited when beginning to this research as there are a lot of things
that I do not know about the specialization that I’m interested in and
thus, I went to look for articles and stuff, I feel quite awed by all the
information and feel like there’s a lot of possibility in this. Even so, I
wished to be able to do research on some intriguing topics.
WEEK 2
I personally think that this part is quite hard since I do not have much
of an idea on what I want to do exactly, and thus focus on something
that’s more general. Plus, I find it a bit hard to know what exactly it
means to be thinking like a content creator, and thus making me spend more
time than needed on deciding on a topic since I’m very very hesitant when
making decisions and also being very afraid of whether I’m doing it right
or wrong. Furthermore, despite the fact I have been learning how to do
research since in high school, I still find great difficulty in coming up
with the problem statement and stuff.
WEEK 3
This is hard. I feel like my brain isn’t working as hard as I want it to
since I still couldn’t think of a perfect thing to write. I’m still
clueless as to how to exactly find a research problem within the thing I’m
interested in, or how to exactly write a good problem statement and find
the right research questions and objectives because the ones I have in
mind feel a bit too general? Furthermore, I feel like I wasn’t able to
find really good information regarding the topic that I’m choosing and
that really increases the difficulty for me because I do not know where
else to look for it.
WEEK 4
For this week’s class, we’re supposed to be doing the workshop provided by
our school. I think that this is quite great as it teaches us on how to
browse through Taylor’s resources and stuff and also teaches us how to
cite the articles and stuff. However, I think it could be improved by not
setting a limited time for it, or maybe not taking away the material or
something, since students like me had a hard time trying to keep
everything in my brain and thus would forget this and that. Sometimes I
would wish to refer back to it, but then I couldn’t.
