PROGRESSION
In this continuous project, we are to create our own style of among us in a
group of 3 people. In the first few weeks, we start by understand and
observing both games, Among us and Goose Goose Duck. Below is our module
progression:
WEEK 2
In this week, all of the students in the class plays both games which is Among
Us and Goose Goose Duck. The goal is to play with 2 mindsets, player's mindset
and a designer's mindset. Then we observe what we see and write it down in the
MIRO board.

WEEK 3
Based on the good and bad art direction that we have observed and wrote down,
we then have to determine the stylization, positioning maps and all
that.

WEEK 6
From this week onwards, we're basically on to sketching and refining. My
groupmates and I have distributed the work, Jomin is responsible for designing
the environment, Imran is designing the user interface and icons whatnot,
while I'm supposed to design the characters.
Fig 1.7; 2nd character design sketching;
After discussing the characters with my teammate, we decided to use 5
characters as the main ones. I then proceeded to refining them in
Illustrator. I started out by testing the colors on the characters first to
see whether the colors suit them or if they work or not.
Fig 1.8; Testing the colors;
I felt that some of the colors work and some of them don't so I kept on
changing it. This part of the assignment takes me more time than I
expected it to be. Luckily, after getting some feedbacks from my friends
and my groupmate, I was able to made the final decisions on the
colors.
Fig 1.9; Characters final outlook;
When I did the characters in Adobe Illustrator, I realized there were
actually quite a lot of mistakes in terms of the visuals, the clothing
looks off and so is the body proportion. So I make amendments so that they
don't look too weird. After getting the outlook of the characters done, I
then move on to make their back profiles, their dead forms and ghost
forms.
Fig 2.0; Characters with their forms;
After making a few tries on how they should look like, I think this
looks pretty acceptable. Since we're going on a comedic gory type, I
felt that their corpse is okay.

Fig 2.2; Characters back profile with shadow
After getting feedbacks from our lecturer, I proceed to add shadows to
the characters to give then some sort of life source.
After completing the characters, Jomin and I then move on to do the tasks
interface. We initially planned to do 7 tasks.
- Wires (Cockpit)
- Water plants (Terrarium)
- Clean up pond (Terrarium)
- Dust off table (Dormitory)
- Arrange books (Dormitory)
- Tube Mixing (Laboratory)
- Button order scanning (Laboratory) [cancelled]
For me, I'm responsible for doing the wires, arranging books and tube
mixing tasks.

I tried to stay consistent, but it is a hard thing. After that Jomin and
I has also decided to make a kill animation to strengthen the idea of
gory. And since Jomin is the only one specializing in animation, she
also decides to take up the challenge. In order to help her animation
much easier, I decided to help her by doing the things in AI and also
arrange it so she knows.

After making it and arranging it, I then hand it over to Jomin.
After some time, she finally completed it and I think it looks
really good. She added nice sound effects, and the animation seems
pretty smooth and funny as well.

A few days before the final presentation, our group held a meeting
to finalize everything and then compile them in a slide. Below is
our final presentation.

FEEDBACKS
General Feedbacks:
Be mindful of the consistency between shapes, colors and much more.
Specific Feedbacks:
Your group's progression is pretty slow compare to other groups. You guys may have to come up with a plan B if you guys cannot make it in time. The character and environment can add some lighting and shadow to it so it won't seem so dead. The user interface doesn't match the character and environment design. Choose one style to follow.
REFLECTION
Throughout these 14 weeks, I have undoubtedly learn a lot of things such as how to judge whether something is good or not. I'm someone who enjoys playing games, so I felt that this module is pretty fun and enjoying as well. At first, I felt that we can do something great, cause this subject is like something that I have huge interest and big ideas, but after actual execution of our ideas, I found out that reality does not match the expectations. So I realized that I have been overconfident. However, I think that it is pretty fortunate that I didn't realize it too late, and I have learn from both mine and other's mistakes.
Since this is a groupwork, I can only say that I'm not expecting too much from it. Not that I want to put any blame on anyone, since I don't think my work is the best as well. However, I think communication in a group is very important, honesty as well. I just think that by stating the truth of what you have in mind is better since all of the other groupmates can discuss a better solution to your problems, simply providing excuses over our own mistakes isn't going to help us or anyone in that matter. In this case, our group has some issues at first. This may be due to my poor English, as I really do suck at explaining things. I tried my best in explaining what I could so that there won't be any misunderstandings, but I need some help from my groupmates, that may be why some of us feel so weird. However, after speaking out our issues and whatnot, I suppose the group has some improvements, which is good.
Besides that, I think taking this module is one of the choices that I won't regret. Learning how to determine the art direction when designing or creating something is extremely important considering that it is something that gives us the direction on where to proceed with our projects. Not only that, but I also get to learn how to better manage my things, and what to prioritize first. Overall, I liked the module as I learned and gained a lot of knowledge and experiences.
