Task 1: Interactive TikTok Filter
Randomizer: Randomizer
INSTRUCTIONS

Fig 1.1; Research on Filter;
Horror Filters that detects face and change the shape of the face or other facial features.
Idea #1:
Games: Memory Game
Players will have to choose the correct answer by eating the colored squares. The prompt will have different colors and words.
Idea #2
Storytelling with a moving picture
Idea #3
Game: Fruits Punch
Players have to eat the nice fruits and avoid bombs, knifes and other harmful stuffs.
After consulting my ideas with my lecturer, I then proceed to do my filter in Effect House.
PROGRESSION
After watching some tutorials and exploring the Effect House myself, I start to do my own filter. However, before that, I need to make the assets myself first.
Fig 2.1; Preparing assets in AI; (25/05/2023)
The whole concept of my filter is basically like a memory game, and the theme I use for my filter is about snakes. The process of the filter is, a sequence of snake images will show randomly first, for example (snake c, snake a, snake d, snake b...). After that, the quiz will then pop out asking what's the first snake that shows up and players have to tilt their head to answer. There will be 5 questions.
After making the assets, I start pouring them into Effect House.

After importing all the assets, I start to make UI buttons work as I think that is the most simple thing that I could start off with. This is also the first time I start to actually play around with the visual scripting.
Fig 2.3; EH Draft Project: Image Sequence; (27/05/2023)
The second thing I tried to do is the image sequence. At first, I think it seems pretty okay for me as I have tried it before. While it was able to connect with the previous section, I wasn't able to connect it to the other sections. I gave up halfway and decide to do other things since I have spent quite some time on this. Furthermore, there's not much guides or tutorials for me regarding the problem.

After that, I start to arrange all the questions and randomizing them. This part is quite easy since it doesn't touch on the visual scripting. However, after doing all these, I started to realized a big problem. Since the important factor of my filter is to be completely random, including the image sequence and also the sequence of the questions. However, from what I've explored and learn through the templates, there is a certain pattern that needs to be followed in order for the players to answer correctly.
After consulting this huge problem with my lecturer, he provided me some suggestions on how to modify my filter. Below is some of my progression:
Fig 2.5; EH Modified Project: UI Refine; (17/06/2023);
While now the filter is still a memory game, but it has changed its approach. Basically, a sequence of images will appear randomly, however, instead of just pictures of snakes, the names of the snakes will appear as well. Players have to memorize the name and the appearance of the snake. Then, the filter will then start to ask questions such as what is the name of this snake and whatsoever.

Fig 2.9; EH Modified Project: Visual Scripting 3; (17/06/2023)
Fig 3.0; EH Modified Project: Layers; (17/06/2023)
I first start to do the UIs, since the project is modified, I basically have to redo the assets and stuff. So I decided to change it a little. After making all the assets and the UIs whatsoever, I then proceeded to do the visual scripting. Some of the visual scripting I can use from the previous section, but for the new stuff, I have to spend some time to explore a little. Even so, I did not take too much time than I expected to complete this modified project, since I have a more references now and combining it with my previous research, I can get it quite fast.

FEEDBACK
Week 6
Specific Feedback:
The first filter seems like a heavy filter, as there are many scenes, I'm not sure how exactly you're going to go with it. I can imagine how the second filter works, and since you like that as well, I think you can go with the second filter. However, for the second filter, you may need to create it with a theme, for example, maybe Harry Potter or whatsoever. Do keep in mind not to use copyrighted themes.
REFLECTION
These 11 weeks of doing the TikTok filter may be one of my most overwhelming week. When I first knew that this project is to create a TikTok filter, I thought that it might not be as hard since I have seen tons of TikTok filters going around and I feel that it might also be very fun considering it's my first time doing things like these. I then start to think of ideas that I would like to do and consult it with our lecturer, Mr.Razif. After that I start to work, I start to regret it a little on my choice of the filter. First of all, for the software we're using, which is Effect House, has very little tutorials on the internet not to mention that the software itself also have a lot of bugs. When I was searching for guides on how to make a certain thing work, I need to spend more time on finding that tutorial instead. Furthermore, sometimes even while I have completely follow the tutorial, it still doesn't work on my side. It makes me quite frustrated sometimes. When I found out the big problem that stopped me from continuing my filter, I thought that I might have to change filters to do. I once again consult with my lecturer for this and he offered to help me to look for ways and see if my filter really works. Luckily, after much time of thinking and discussing, I was finally able to complete my filter that doesn't stray away too much from my original idea.
During the time when I was doing this project, I definitely learned a lot. While Effect House isn't a "perfect software", I still get to learned on how to use it. Moreover, I have never tried visual scripting at all in my life, and this is the first time I have got the chance and time to explore around it. And because of that, I spend quite some time to understand how visual scripting works. I wouldn't say that it's very easy compare to normal coding and stuff, but I think if I have more time to explore, I might get good on visual scripting. Despite getting frustrated at the software sometimes, I still feel that it is a fun thing to explore around. However, that depends on what filter you're doing.
Last but not least, I really wanted to thank my lecturer for helping me out whenever I'm stressed out for the project. Since this project is pretty different from the previous semester, and a lot of students in the class have problems with their filter as well, despite that, Mr. Razif still takes the time and effort to help us out in any way he can even when he is busy himself. I'm really grateful for that.
