INSTRUCTIONS

PROCESS

In this task, we are required to refine our previous designs according to the feedback that are provided. After asking them, they said that it would be nice if all of our designs are much more lively and "playful". After discussing with our lecturer and my teammates, we then proceeded to refine our designs, below is some of our progress.

In my part, since I was in charge of designing the "About Us" and "Sign In" page, I thought that the "Sign In" page looks alright and decide not to change much about it. Thus, I only refined the "About Us" page.

In order to try to make the website livelier and also not to alter the website too much, I decided to change the middle part of the website, which is the boxes of the square, as I thought it looks a little too serious and unable to accommodate the brand of G.E.M, thus I planned to changed it by merging the photo with the graphic elements that we made. Furthermore, I also decided to change the images that were initially provided by the Business School since I felt that it does not match the style that we have and also it does not look very nice. I also decided to add more graphic elements to the page.

These are the other pages of the website:

Next, my other teammates also made other refinements based on what they got. Below is their progress of the promotional video:

Our team also made changes to the packaging design:

FEEDBACK

Week 10:
(From lecturer and other team)
The video is well made and the details that are on the 3D models looks absolutely nice. The packaging design can be improved, since there's not much information on the reusable part.

(From the Business School)
They think that the final outcome looks good and they appreciated our efforts. However, they think that our some parts of the design can be more playful and creative to attract people.

Week 11:
You don't need to redo everything, focus more on how to make your designs more fun and engaging, as the minimalistic part of the design works, but not the playful part. You can try to use more graphic elements as well as apply more of the secondary colors into your designs, as it does not seem that you guys use much of it.

NEXT COURSE OF ACTION

Week 10:
  • Ask for feedback from TBS.
  • Have a group discussion and discuss on how to refine the deliverables.
Week 11:
  • Refine the designs based on the feedbacks provided by both the lecturer and TBS.
  • Complete blog.
  • Complete weekly assessment.

REFLECTIONS

Experience
After this task, the module will then come to an end, for this part, I felt quite relief, as I would then have much more time and energy to focus on other assignments. With that said, I really appreciate our lecturer to be able to keep us on track on the time schedule planned earlier this semester. While in this semester, I have to work in a team, for this part, I felt that I'm in a team and at the same time, not. There's not much that I could say cause everyone is doing their own work, and we can always meet up the deadline provided. However, I felt that we could have done better, regardless of designing the deliverables or in communication if all of us could just sit down at talk about it. It might be due to the fact that we complete this module through online classes. Other than that, I also felt that I have gained a lot of experience on how to deal with people as well. In this case, my teammates and more on our client. I knew the that the designs we made isn't the best, and our clients might not use it, and honestly, I do not feel sooo affected by it。 However, I do wish that they would let us know immediately if there's something they do not like or is not satisfied about. This is so that we could make proper amendments. It would be best if they do not let us know last minute, but I know that in the future, when I'm working with other clients outside from the school, there will be tons of clients that are just like them, or even worse. Despite that, I still hope that things can be much more smoother for us next time.

Observation
On the other hand, I felt that I have definitely learned a lot of the "procedures" about creating a brand identity and more. I have never really had chances like this, to be able to be "fully exposed" to graphic design. And honestly, even while my specialization is UI/UX, graphic design is not my strong suit. I would wish to improve myself on that, as that is very important for my career path.

Findings
I found out that my time management skills are really poor as I always seem to be unable to manage my time well between assignments. During the submission of task 4, there's also another submission going on and I felt super duper burned out having to manage both assignments at the same time. I also realized that I desperately needed to find a way to deal with my own problems and emotions. They are the least of the problems that I would want to deal with when deadlines are so near. Thus, it would be good if I could figure out a way to properly and effectively handle it.
