PROJECT 1
In this project, we are to participate in HONOR's competition. I came up
with 2 ideas that I thought sound pretty great. Below is my idea:
After much thinking, I decided to go with the first idea. With that, I
then decided to find some reference on how exactly I want to showcase my
idea. I thought that, at first I could do a simple wallpaper art, but with
the remaining time I have, and the limited skills I possessed, I thought
perhaps I can go for something more interesting instead.

I thought I could do something that seemed graphical, yet clean and
also looked really cool, and thus, I decided to go with a polygon art
style. After discussing with my lecturer, she agreed with my idea and
told me to go proceed with sketching. Below is my rough
progression:

After deciding the sketches and all that, I then start to do it in AI.

PROJECT 2
In this project, we are required to further explore our design from
project 1. In this project, I have also thought out 2 ideas that I
thought sounds nice but may require a lot of technical skills. Below is
my ideas:
Idea 1: Visual Novel // Game
Idea 1: Visual Novel // Game
- A short story of a racoon travelling through the world and learning things from it's journey.
- Players play as the racoon
- Choices for players to choose and proceed with the story
- Different endings for different choices (Endings does not specifically mean bad or good)

Idea 2: Interactive Website
- Display a few ready made characters with different backstory taken from friends/web
- Users able to post their own story
- Users able to choose their own avatar
- Users able to leave a comment/wish (Basically a commenting section)
- Users from all around the world can see different stories and education from each corner of the world.
After discussing with my lecturer, she mentioned that both ideas
seem good, but require a lot of time, and the time given for this
project isn't enough for me to complete it. So in the end, I chose
the 2nd idea cause it's not something I have done before. However,
I need to modify a bit.
Idea chosen in the end: Interactive Website
- Users able to pick a tag from the tree randomly
- All tags have different learning/education/life quotes on them.
- Users able to leave comments/wishes/story
At first, I have been debating what exact contents I wanted to
have in the tags. Unfortunately, after some research, I think
that I won't be able to have users leaving a comment in it and
stays, due to limited skills and time. However, before
proceeding with my work, I thought I could add and refine my
previous work.

In order to organized the whole outcome of the website and also
to determine how exactly I should go with this, I first started
the planning in AI.

FEEDBACK
Project 1
- Both ideas seem very interesting
- Doing a full whole painting or digital painting will be hard and takes quite some time, choosing polygon art is good choice. You can do further research from there.
Project 2
- Both ideas will be quite time consuming
- It will be nice if you can re-use the art assets that you have from project 1
REFLECTION
After going through these 14 weeks of this module, I felt as if my head is just barely above the water. I felt that this is very nice module for me to actually explore it out myself and make the designs and whatnot. While given enough freedom to do "do whatever you want" but also slightly restricted by some of the rules. Unfortunately, I felt that having only 14 weeks for this module is not enough. In this module, I also learned a lot and also get to do a lot of things that I have not done before. In the process of completing these projects, I realized that there are some stuff that you really need to experience it before you can fully express what you want to. Since I have never done any of these, I never get to experience it until now, and only do I know that the process of these "easy" artworks are not easy at all. It would spend me a lot of time, trying to understand it and explore it to see whether what I'm doing is "right". Despite that, I have to say that I really did learned a lot of things when doing the projects.
In the process of completing both of these project, I have face a lot of difficulties when trying to complete the projects. First of all, is my lack of confidence in myself. This is the main issue as it affects exactly how I proceed with my work. I would constantly doubt myself on whether my idea is okay, or if the way I showcase is nice. I have also noticed that I tend to slack a lot when I got stuck in a part or when I'm in doubt of myself. This is a very bad habit as I will have lesser time to complete my projects. Time managing on this module is complete gone for me as well as I couldn't keep up with my own schedule and plannings. Not to mentioned that, I seem to be in a creative block. I can't really come up with good ideas nor can I pay attention to details that could improve my artwork. I feel very tired easily even I didn't have much progression on my works. I feel that the cause of this is due to my lack of confidence and fear of failure. Luckily, I was still able to complete my projects. However, I do not feel really satisfied with my works, as it definitely does not reach my expectations. I would hope that during my free time, I could improve my works so that it reaches my expectation and could be one of my proud works, instead of just "a project that I have done before". Last but not least, I would also like to thank our lecturer for giving us feedback to our works during the semester as sometimes she would give out insightful feedbacks on how I should proceed with my work, which I am really grateful.
